Life at Inspire – Adam Lamb
Client Services Trainee
I was so happy when I received a permanent trainee job offer, as Inspire is the only business I wanted to work for. The team at Inspire really made me feel included from day one. In my first week, I was shown how to do most of the processes and the tasks that need to be done and after that I started doing tasks and jobs on my own. I love this freedom and I know if I get to a point that I get stuck, or I’m questioning myself whether something is right or wrong, there is always someone who will take the time to teach me what I am meant to be doing, which is great.
I complete a day release at college, which is a great part of my apprenticeship – what I learn helps me improve on how I can do my job, and I have learnt so much already. I’ve been given presentations and videos about how and why we do the work we do. I’ve especially liked the process of focusing on different parts of the work we do for each client so I really understand what I need to do before I move onto a different part.
The environment at Inspire is amazing. We can take a day off for charity and recently did lots of fun activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Inspire. I am so grateful that I got a job here. I know that this is the best start to my career and that this is the only place I want to be.
Life at Inspire – James Miller
Client Services Supervisor
Since joining Inspire, I’ve grown so much in confidence. When I first joined, I had zero accounts knowledge. Within my first year I was going out to clients by myself. I’ve found being pushed like this, within my limits and with support in the background, has really aided my progression. I love going to meet clients, discussing how they work and how we can help them.
I’ve been supported to study for both my AAT and ACCA qualifications and was thrilled to become ACCA qualified in 2019. I now work as a supervisor in our Client Services team, which involves a lot more responsibility. The work I’m given is always evolving, which has allowed me to see and learn from a lot of different scenarios and varied personalities (clients included!). This variety of work and the diversity of clients we have, across many different industries, keeps me here.
I’ve also got a really strong relationship with my manager and over the years I’ve made friendships at work which will last for life. I feel a sense of belonging to Inspire. I love how open the directors are about how we’re doing as a business and how much they welcome our ideas. We’re always encouraged to innovate. We also enjoy socialising together. My personal highlight was when we climbed Snowdon for our annual microadventure. It was great being in a challenging environment with colleagues. We had to pull together and learnt a lot about each other.
Life at Inspire – Helen Fraser
I joined Inspire as a qualified ACCA accountant in April 2013. My experience up to this point was nine years working for small local accountancy practices, solely delivering accountancy and tax compliance work. I was looking to join a firm of accountants where I could broaden my experience with different clients. I was introduced to Inspire and when hearing that their focus was on entrepreneurial clients and supporting them on the business journey, this sounded like somewhere I would enjoy working and somewhere that would help me develop professionally.
Both have proved true. Inspire supported me through my CTA studies and I gained my qualification in January 2017. Being CTA qualified has helped me to undertake tax advisory projects as well as completing accounts and tax compliance work. We have great interaction with clients and it’s great having Directors who are always planning what is next for Inspire – this is good for our career prospects as we are always developing.
I have stayed with Inspire as there is a great team and although we work hard, we do also have fun. We meet socially and there is lots of support across the wider team. The office is also very different to other traditional accountancy practices I have seen in that it is light, modern and spacious. There is always a good buzz around the office.
