The fourth instalment of the epic ride which started with Poole to Paris, then Paris to Bordeaux and last year Bordeaux to Perpignan gets underway in just two weeks’ time.
This year’s ride will cover around 450 miles over four days from Perpignan to Monaco (via the Alps) taking on a significant amount of climbing including the infamous Mount Ventoux.
So why cycle 450 miles?
Our efforts are all to raise money for Boo, a locally based charity, helping children in Kenya, and our funds will be dedicated to their Early Childhood Development program.
Children who through no fault of their own but victim of circumstance, born out of rape or who have lost parents to Aids and other illness are fighting to survive the ravages of daily life, sleeping rough, scouring rubbish for a morsel to eat and sometimes victims of the most brutal abuse. These children have no parents, no care infrastructure; they roam the streets of Nairobi at night like animals just to survive. These are the depths of depravity and despair that no child should face. Therefore if we can provide these children with opportunity then we can make a difference.
Boo have a proven track record in getting results and fulfilling their mantra of ‘Giving Opportunity not Charity’.
More information on the charity and the individual projects being supported can be found on their website, www.boo-charity.org.uk
100% of funds raised will go to aid to the benefit of the children as Boo operates on a Zero admin basis, which is great news, every pound will do some good.
So please make the hard training I have undertaken, the early 5.30am starts and the foregoing of crisps, chocolate (and at times alcohol) worthwhile and consider donating to this great cause, which you can do by following this link:
