Reminder: Deferring your second payment on account

If your personal income has been affected by Covid-19, here’s a quick reminder that you don’t need to pay your Self Assessment second payment on account by this Friday (31 July), when it would usually be due.  You can defer the payment until 31 January 2021.

HMRC announced the deferral for anyone registered for Self Assessment back in March, to help ease the burden on tax payers.  It is an automatic offer, with no applications required – HMRC will not charge interest or penalties on any amount of the deferred payment on account, provided it’s paid on or before 31 January 2021.

The deferment is optional. If you would like to talk through your options or are unsure about deferring the payment, or would like further help with this, please get in touch with us or call 01202 717867.  We’re here to support you.
