BCP Business Festival sees 10-day programme of free events

With less than two weeks to go until the start of this year’s BCP Business Festival, places for the free-to-attend events are filling up fast!

The 10-day programme of free events to help business leaders recover from the impact of the pandemic, begins on Wednesday 17 November with An evening with Alastair Humphreys at the Bournemouth Pavilion.

Funded by BCP Council’s Bounce Back Fund and taking place at venues across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, the festival will see 14 individual events, under the themes of future and innovation, inspiration and wellbeing, designed to motivate and engage local business leaders from a variety of sectors.

Inspiring the next generation with Bournemouth University on Thursday 18 November is an opportunity for would-be young entrepreneurs to receive real, honest advice from those with first-hand experience.  The event being held at BU’s Talbot Campus will feature a panel of young business leaders sharing their own stories, including Simon Dilawershah, LMA Architects, Martin Smith, Talent Drive, Tom Quay, Passenger, Hannah Beard, Pure Wellness and Mei Pan, Yobu Frozen Yogurt & Bubble Tea.

Other festival highlights include:

Going Green – an event dedicated to learning about implementing green and sustainable initiatives in business.  Taking place at The Green House Hotel on Friday 19 November, the panel discussion will feature business leaders who have already created a more eco-friendly business sharing their hints, tips and advice, including Lizzie McManus, Warrior Agency, Olivia O’Sullivan, The Green House Hotel, Jon Cullum, Sustainable Technology and Solutions Centre, Jon Fletcher, Big Clean Switch and Michael French from Boscombe-based charity, Grounded Community.

The Future of BCP on Tuesday 23 November at Poole’s Civic Centre will see Cllr Drew Mellor, Chairman of BCP Council and Cllr Philip Broadhead, Deputy Leader discuss plans for the future of the region and the help available for local business leaders.

Taking place at The Lighthouse on Thursday 25 November, Evolve to Succeed: An evening with business leaders will see some well-known names from the local business community take to the stage, including Josh Simons, Chicken & Blues, entrepreneur, Lyndon Stickley, Paul Spiers, The New P&L and Katie Street, Street Agency helping to inspire others, discussing their highs, lows and everything in between of being a business owner!

Bringing together business leaders from nine different sectors, the closing event in the festival programme is The BCP Symposium on Friday 26 November at AFC Bournemouth.  This will be an opportunity to take part in sector-specific workshops discussing issues, successes and the future, before coming together with representatives from the other sectors to learn about opportunities for the region as a whole.

The BCP Business Festival is being organised by the Poole-based community for entrepreneurs and business leaders, Evolve, in partnership with business and tax advisors, Inspire.

The BCP Business Festival is a follow-on from the 2019 Evolve Business Festival, which hosted eight events at different venues across Poole and Bournemouth. Over 130 local companies attended, and events ranged from intimate ‘round table’ meetings to a large charity dinner with Eddie Howe as guest speaker.
