I have been a member of the Inspire team for almost six years, joining in October 2009 as the Senior Strategic Services Manager. In that time I have successfully developed and maintained the Strategic Services team at Inspire, and have thoroughly enjoyed the role.
Inspire is one of the very few companies in Dorset to offer this service to our clients, which provides a unique insight into your business. I provide you with businesses support, often undertaking the role of Finance Director or Financial Controller on Demand. I fulfil this role within your business as and when you require it meaning you have that level of support when you need it.
I provide business analysis to help you as the entrepreneur, understand the key drivers within your business, including the use of non-financial measures and data. I help you to answer key questions you need to address to enable your business to succeed:
- How much is your business worth?
- Can more funds be raised to help grow your business?
- How can the Directors plan the business’ growth into the future?
- What parts of the business are the top performers and what areas should be reduced or divested?
Alongside management information, my role also includes budgeting, forecasting and planning, including action plans and tracking of actual results against planned actions and financial performance.
As well as providing you with information on the day-to-day running of your business, I also provide support for new product developments or new business opportunities and projects. This includes creating bespoke business models or raising finance in the most cost effective and appropriate way for your business.
I also work within the wider business advisory team at Inspire, who I work with to carry out business valuations for many varied business and personal purposes. I also support Inspire’s mergers and acquisitions assignments.
Prior to joining Inspire I have been working in the accounting in both practice and industry for twenty years. After graduating from Bournemouth University with a first class honours degree in Business Studies, I joined KPMG in Southampton where I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993. Here I also gained a Practising Certificate, which enables me to act as a signatory for Inspire Audit Limited.
In 1994 I joined Frizzell Financial Services, where I spent ten very happy years working on and around the Frizzell roundabout in Westbourne. In 1997, Frizzell Financial Services was acquired by LV= and I was given the fantastic opportunity to work on the business acquisition and then the Department of Trade and Industry application for LV= to become a general insurance company.
At LV= I worked as the Management Accountant and Business Analyst for Sales and Marketing, away from the Finance Department. This enabled me to develop my skills for communicating financial matters to people for whom finance is not their first love!
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys, friends and family alongside which I try to find time for some exercise such as running and gym classes.
